Mass settings are set out above on the left. All the Hymn Composer mass settings have been composed by me. Please feel free to use the mass settings which are mainly CBCEW and ICEL approved. They are very congregation friendly and have been well received by my local parish. I would welcome mass settings from other hymn composers. Mass settings play an important part in the liturgy and it is encouraging that recent reforms encourage new settings.

The Gloria is probably the most difficult to compose for, due to its structure, particularly if you try to avoid repetition. However it is well worth the effort. Hymn Composer settings normally avoid repetition, repeats and choruses so that only the words of the Mass are used. The idea is that the setting is not a performance song and thus changes should be avoided no matter how small.
